Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
