Vince Zampella, the mind behind the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in the state of California aged 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure died after his car crashed and caught fire on a motorway in LA on Sunday, according to.
