The President Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Members to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Tragic Event

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Service arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the government to pause asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
